In summer of 2004, medical students from all over Europe gathered together in the French alps for a joint workshop of the International Federation of Medical Students' Associations (IFMSA) and the European Medical Students' Association (EMSA) on the Bologna Process and Medical Education.
At the conference a Policy Paper has been written. It was the first ever statement of an international federation dealing with the implentation of the objectives of the Bologna Declaration in medical education and is called The Bologna Declaration and Medical Education.
The statement was adopted by the plenary of the 53. General Assembly (GA) of IFMSA in August 2004 in Ohrid, Macedonia.
