About Eskisehir
The city is located on the banks of the Porsuk River, 792 m above sea level, where it overlooks the fertile Phrygian Valley. In the nearby hills one can find hot springs. The city is 233 km (145 mi) to the west of Ankara, 330 km (205 mi) to the southeast of Istanbul and 78 km (48 mi) to the northeast ofKütahya. Known as a university town, both Eskişehir Osmangazi University and Anadolu University (which has one of the largest student enrollments in the world) are based in Eskişehir. According to the 2011 census, the population of the city is 648,396. The name Eskişehir literally means Old City in Turkish; indeed, the city was founded by the Phrygians in around 1000 BC. Many Phrygian artifacts and sculptures can still be found in the city's archeological museum. There is also a museum of meerschaum stone, whose production remains still notable, used to make high quality meerschaum pipes. In the fourth century AD the city moved about ten km northeast, from Karacahisar to Şehirhöyük. Whenever it was mentioned by ancient geographers, the city was described as one of the most beautiful in Anatolia.
The city has a significant population of Turkic Crimean Tatars. It also attracted ethnic Turks emigrating from Balkan countries and and it is chosen as Cultural Capital of Turkıc World.
Economy: Eskisehir is an industry city with its industruial zone and two small separate industry sites. From farming based industry to making locomotive and planes, hundreds of business firms provides employment for the young population in different industries in Eskisehir. Meerschaum, which is peculiar with Eskisehir, is known as white gold all around the world.

How To Get Eskisehir
Eskisehir is 315 kilometers away from Istanbul, 230 km from Ankara, 150 km from Bursa, and 450 km from Antalya. It has both overland and railway connection to almost everywhere around the country.

As with much of Turkey, the climate of Eskisehir is relatively mild and continental in character, with the annual seasons remaining quite distinctive and easy to spot. The winter weather in Ankara is quite short, although often quite cold, frosty and at times, a little on the snowy side. The summer climate experienced within Edirne is much more appealing and the days are often long, sunny, dry and pleasantly hot. July and August tend to see the best weather and the highest temperatures, with highs exceeding 30°C / 86°F not being at all unusual.
ESOGU Hospital of Faculty of Medicine

1000-bed ESOGU Hospital of Faculty of Medicine, which has been in the position of a reference hospital for Eskişehir and the surrounding cities, has been the first public university hospital with ISO 9001:2000 Quality Assurance Certificate, and HACCP Certificate for food production in hospital kitchen in Turkey. ESOGU hospital, which has been the first university hospital among the health institutions in Turkey, where “Appointed Patient Admission System” is applied, is equipped with high- tech equipment. There is a helicopter pad which is in use for the purpose of urgent patient transfer in ESOGU Cumhuriyet Park which is situated near the hospital. Moreover, Prof.Dr.Servet Bilir Oncology Center, founded in 2004 for the purpose of treatment of cancer patients, serve patients from Eskişehir and surrounding cities.
