About the city


Rouen is a port city, capital of High-Normandy, university and very dynamic town, near Paris

It is also, you will be able to realize it, a city in charge of history and very pleasant to discover.


Local weather


Oceanic climate: As often as not it rains, except in June, July and August we have a sunny weather.


Local transportation


Easy transportation access providing a direct link to CHU Charles Nicolle (for SCOPE) and to faculty of medicine (for SCORE), both being very close


Social life


The university regularly organizes meetings between all the foreign students present on the campus.

You'll have a contact person who will have as a role to make you discover the city and the student life during your training course

And many students are ready to help you to adapt. We propose a full social program in order to experience the life in Rouen.


The hospitals


The teaching hospital of Rouen is made up of 5 hospitals. The biggest is the Charles Nicolle hospital, near the faculty of medicine. It takes part in 3 missions: medical care, teaching and research.

The hospital of Rouen is mainly recognized for the repairing surgery of the hand and the wrist, the neurosurgery and the cardiology. These poles are associated with local research projects.

Our research has three main axes: neurodegenerative diseases, cardiology and immunology.

Accommodation & boarding


Room accommodation with a local family or student's location. Three meals a day, at the hospital or at the faculty of medicine for lunch.


Social program


Rouen


Rouen is known for its Notre Dame cathedral, with its Tour de Beurre (butter tower). The cathedral was the subject of a series of paintings by Claude Monet.

The Gros Horloge is an astronomical clock (dating back to the 16th century). It is located in the Gros Horloge Street.

Other famous structures include the Gothic Church of Saint Maclou (15th century); the Tour Jeanne d'Arc, where Joan of Arc was brought in 1431; the Church of Saint Ouen (12th–15th century); the Palais de Justice, which was once the seat of the Parlement of Normandy and the Museum of Fine Arts and Ceramics which contains a splendid collection of faïence and porcelain for which Rouen was renowned during the 16th to 18th centuries.

- the Castle of Versailles

- the Louvre museum

- the Pompidou Center

- the Quai Branly museum

- the Orsay museum and

- River boat for sightseeing






Normandy

Normandy is a region of tourist attraction. You can visit the Mont Saint Michel, Caen with the Memorial of World War II, Honfleur and a lot of other sites.
