About the City

Zonguldak is a city in the Black Sea region of Turkey. The center of city’s population, according to the 2009 census, was 108,792. It is an important port on the Black Sea because of the coal mining in Zonguldak. The city's name probably comes from Zone Geul-Dagh, the name given to the area by French and Belgian mining companies. Zonguldak has an oceanic climate with high and evenly distributed rainfall the year round. Summers are warm and humid, and the average temperature is around 21°C in July and August. Winters are cool and damp, and the average temperature is around 6°C in January and February.Precipitation is heaviest in autumn and early winter and lightest in spring. Snowfall is quite common between the months of December and March, snowing for a week or two, and it can be heavy once it snows.The water temperature like in the whole Turkish Black Sea coast is always cool and fluctuates between 8° and 20°C throughout the year. Zonguldak is famous in country with coal mines. Mining is being done more than 150 years in here. However the city is also famous with its natural beauty. It’s very comfortable for trekking and photography. In the city, you can do a lot of things. If you want to swim, you can go Filyos Beach. If you want to shop you can go shopping center which is Demirpark. When you get bored of internship you can have a good time in Club Purple and when you’re hungry you can eat delicious meal with magnificent sunset view in seaside restaurants.


How To Get Zonguldak ??

If you want to come Zonguldak, you better take on plane to Istanbul or Ankara first, after that there is two options you can choose. These are coming here by bus or by train. Bus is the most used way to travel due to rapidity and comfort


Local Weather

As with much of Turkey, the climate of Zonguldak is relatively mild and continental in character, with the annual seasons remaining quite distinctive and easy to spot. The winter weather in Zonguldak is quite short, although often quite cold, frosty and at times, a little on the snowy side.

The summer climate experienced within Zonguldak is much more appealing and the days are often long, sunny, dry and pleasantly hot. July and August tend to see the best weather and the highest temperatures, with highs exceeding 30°C / 86°F not being at all unusual.
